Dr. patrick monaghan

Dr. Monaghan was born and raised in Ottawa before moving to Calgary where he completed his Honours Bachelor of Science degree. He returned to Ontario to pursue Optometry, earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo on the Dean’s Honours List in 2009.

During his schooling, he completed externships in Halifax and Calgary, as well as a rotation in Louisville, Kentucky. There, he worked closely with retinal, corneal, and glaucoma specialists, receiving extensive ocular disease management training.

Upon graduation, Dr. Monaghan practiced in downtown Ottawa for 6 years. He served as the President of the Ottawa Society of Optometrists for 2 years, organizing continuing education for fellow Optometrists and building relationships with local Ophthalmologists. Dr. Monaghan is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO), the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO), and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists (OSO).

Dr. Monaghan spends his spare time exploring Ottawa and all it has to offer with his wife and growing family. He enjoys hockey, the outdoors, and looks forward to regular trips out west to visit family in Calgary.
