Dr. Élise Berthiaume was born and raised in Ottawa. In 2012, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with a minor in Life Sciences at the University of Ottawa. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree with honours in May 2016 from the New England College of Optometry and was awarded the Dr. Hyman R. Kamens Award for her outstanding leadership and commitment to serving others in the optometric field.
Dr. Berthiaume’s experience was acquired at various clinics throughout the United States, including Alaska, where she gained valuable retinal and corneal disease knowledge, and worked extensively with contact lenses in a private practice setting. She has also travelled to Nicaragua to provide eye care for the underprivileged.
Dr. Berthiaume enjoys working alongside her mother, Dr. Lucie Berthiaume. In her spare time, she enjoys hockey, cycling, and the outdoors.
