Dr. McIntosh grew up in Florenceville, New Brunswick.  After earning his Bachelors in Science degree at UNB in Fredericton, he completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 2002.  He was recognized on the Dean’s Honors List and also was awarded best in primary care clinic for his 4th year internship at the university.  Dr. McIntosh originally started his career in Moncton, NB where he served 1 year on counsel with the New Brunswick Association of Optometrists.  He has also practiced in Halifax, NS.  In August 2006 Dr. McIntosh moved to Ottawa and joined the Barrhaven Optometric Centre.  He became a partner in the practice in 2008 and has been instrumental in expanding the practice to our 2 current locations in Barrhaven and Manotick.

Dr. McIntosh enjoys all aspects of primary Optometric care including ocular health management as well as finding the perfect glasses or contact lens options to suit the visual demands of our modern lifestyles and digital environments.

In his spare time, Dr. McIntosh is an avid kiteboarder and also enjoys skiing and road cycling.  He is an accomplished bagpiper having won the Canadian Gold medal for bagpiping in Maxville in 2008 as well as numerous other solo awards.  He has previously competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland with the Ottawa Police Pipe band.
