Dr. Lora Lee Hardy grew up on a farm in Lucan, Ontario. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Waterloo in 2007. Throughout her academic studies, she was recognized on the Dean’s Honors List and was awarded the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award in her final year. She began working in private practice at Barrhaven Optometric Centre in 2007 and became a partner in 2010.

Dr. Hardy is an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO), Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO), and the past president of the Ottawa Society of Optometrists (OSO). She is also part of the OAO Urgent Care committee, working with the Ministry of Health to improve patient access to emergency eye care and promote public education.

Past experience includes an externship at an ophthalmological center in Birmingham, Alabama, specializing in diseases of the retina, glaucoma, pre- and post-operative cataract and refractive surgery and oculoplastics. Dr. Hardy has also travelled to Chile, Peru, and Nicaragua to provide eye care to the underprivileged. In addition, she has led several training lectures for optometric staff.

In her spare time, Dr. Hardy enjoys travel, golf, and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Hardy firmly believes vision is more than “20/20” and she strives to share her knowledge and her passion for the enhancement and protection of eyesight with her patients.
